It’s only Tuesday and it’s already one of those weeks. I’m grateful for my wife who really does a lot to help keep me in the race. 🙂
I’ve been struggling to find time to shoot these days. 11 hours a day go to work, from when I leave to when I get home. Another one or two go to trying to find us a place to live that isn’t someone else’s place to live. I have my second side job in 4 months, meaning Saturdays and some evening hours need to go to building that site. Plus I have a dog that needs care and a wife who needs words, touch, and time.
So I’ve decided to start bringing my camera with me everywhere I go. It’s a commitment as it’s no small bag of gear that comes along. But if I can find one or two moments a week where I don’t have to report in, where I can be me without having to wonder about the silent or stated words that seem to lay upon everything I do or don’t…I think that will go a long way in finding my peaceful places.
One problem I’m having is finding my shooting sweet spot here in Florida. Car shows will be a big part of that, but I haven’t yet found the places to shoot sunsets and water and architecture and street photography. Everything sort of looks the same (hence the photo used for this post.
Orlando is a weird town with a largely uninspiring urban center. The area is flat as can be. There are enough buildings around every lake to make a sunset shoot less interesting. But…there are plants and animals here that I’ve never shot, and people are people. It will come…but I need to work more to find it. Seems weird that the best way to break up one of those weeks is to work, but it’s the work I love most.
